Regardless of the season, there are some surf spots around Taghazout and Tamraght ideal for novice and beginner surfers to start their surfing journey in Morocco.

The contest had been cancelled in 2021 and 2022 due to COVID-19 related reasons. In December 2022, the WSL released an announcement that the WSL QS RipCurl Taghazout Pro Search would return to Anchor Point in February 2023. 

The idea of surfing in the middle of the winter months seems a little ludacris, especially when you have to add hoods, boots, and gloves to your equipment list. Surfing is meant to be a hot weather activity, right?

Taghazout has historically and notably been known as a surfing destination since the 1960’s, however, there are over 50 surf spots in and around Taghazout Bay, Morocco's west coast.
